Lontra has launched a new energy saving machine set to apply its award winning technology to the low pressure compressor and blower market.

The LP2 Blade Compressor was unveiled at Hannover Messe’s ComVac exhibition. The new range has been designed for a reliable and continuous operation, delivering an expected energy saving exceeding 21% in industries such as pneumatic conveying, water treatment and aeration.

The machine delivers up to 2250m3/hr (1325 cfm) at a pressure of up to 1 bar(g) (14.5 psig). The technology has been carefully designed to include the latest in IoT monitoring, with features to help businesses maximise performance and reduce downtime. Features include the remote transfer of real-time data on the compressor as well as permanent magnet motor technology.

This will be the first time that Lontra will manufacture directly in the UK, addressing an $84 billion global market for industrial air compressors and blowers, and is an illustration of the productivity benefits that digital manufacturing can offer to the UK’s fastest growing region for good exports.

Steve Lindsey, CEO and Founder at Lontra said:

“We’re delighted to launch the LP2, the latest in our Blade Compressor series. Following the successful global licensing of our first product in 2013, we’ve been working with some of the world’s finest engineering minds to bring a new disruptive product to the global market. From the performance of our machine, to the aesthetics of our enclosure we’re determined to challenge accepted levels of design and quality across the compressor market.

“We are particularly proud that we’ll be manufacturing the first run of our LP2 in the UK; a real vote of confidence in Britain’s ability to manufacture at volume, and of course a massive step forward for our business. As we expand our sales internationally we’re keen to bring on more distributors and partners.”

The successful licensing of Lontra’s first design, the Blade Compressor, to global engineering group Sulzer means that Lontra IP can be sold across 150 countries. The first run of Lontra’s new LP2 compressors have already been pre-allocated to customers in the UK and US, and Lontra is currently working with global distributors to reach new markets.

The Blade Compressor’s completely new geometry and broad sealing areas allow for excellent efficiency at relatively low rotational speed – factors that also contribute to its reliability.
