Farnell adds Festo to expand automation technology range

10 February 2021

Farnell is now stocking a wide range of pneumatic automation products from Festo. Festo is the performance leader in a range of industries including electronic equipment manufacturing, light assembly, automotive, life sciences, pharmaceutical and food processing and packaging.

Farnell provides access to the full range of Festo products, greatly expanding its pneumatics range and industrial automation and control portfolio. Almost 3,000 of the most in-demand Festo products are now in stock and available for fast delivery in the UK and Ireland with an emphasis on those most suitable for electronic system design, maintenance and repair.

Festo’s innovative and competitively priced products complement components from other suppliers already stocked by Farnell. Customers now have greater flexibility in system design and build, as well as facilitating critical maintenance and equipment repairs.

Festo’s high quality pneumatic products now available for fast delivery from Farnell include:

• The Mini Slide (DGST) is ideal for precision handling tasks. They are used individually or in combinations to create handling devices for assembly and handling tasks. It is the most compact slide on the market, enabling machine builders to decrease the footprint of their machines. This has been achieved by cleverly absorbing features such as the integrated shock absorbers, position sensor slots and end of stroke cushioning within the core body dimensions. Typical applications include electronics, light assembly, machine building and handling technology.
• The ISO Profile Cylinder (DSBC) meets the ISO 15552 standard dimensions but is exceptional in other ways.  With the widest available range of mounting options, users are saved considerable time designing and making supplementary mounting plates. The patented self-adjusting pneumatic end-position cushioning that adapts to changes in load and speed saving set-up times and increasing operating life by ensuring the cushioning is always optimal for the speed, load and pressure conditions.
• The Compact Cylinder (ADN) meets ISO 21287 occupying up to 50 percent less installation space than standard profile cylinders. The built-in and optional self-adjusting cushioning absorbs end of stroke shocks, reducing noise and vibration which can be unpleasant for operators and damaging to sensitive processes.
• The Solenoid Valve (VUVS) is manufactured on completely automated manufacturing lines enabling them to be produced at lower sales prices, flexibly and in high volumes, making them ideal for all applications. They can be used individually or on manifold bases meaning designers can be creative in how they mount their valves for accessibility, short tube runs to save energy or to fit into restricted spaces. A reliable, robust component that offers a long service life, ergonomic design and safe operation.

Simon Meadmore, Global Head of IP&E at Farnell says: “We are delighted to introduce Festo into our automation technology portfolio. The breadth of Festo’s products greatly enhances our pneumatics range and extends our comprehensive industrial automation offering. As a distributor with a strong supplier network, our new partnership with Festo will allow our customers to complete critical maintenance and repairs with reduced equipment or factory downtime. In addition to this, our customers will be able to safely streamline factory automation processes while bringing to market new machinery and equipment much faster with Festo.”

Festo products are available for fast delivery in the UK and Ireland from Farnell.
