EAO adds 8-button and environment-resistant variants to Series 09 modular keypads for automotive applications

24 April 2023

EAO has expanded its Series 09 family of IATF 16949-compliant automotive pushbutton keypads, adding eight-button IP69K compact push-button keypads that are approved for external control applications in special vehicles and heavy-duty equipment.

Like the established compact two- and six-pushbutton devices in the Series 09 family, the new 8-pushbutton keypads feature freely-configurable 4-segment RGB halo ring illumination, that can be utilised for operational-state indication. Depending on the application, the illuminations can be combined with one another on a modular basis, to provide intelligent visual feedback from the keypad.

Environmentally-protected

The sealed IP69K variants are weather- and jet-wash-resistant, making them suitable for internal or external mounted control applications on fire, refuse, cleaning, construction, forestry and agricultural vehicles, as well as on hoists, pumps, lifting platforms, outriggers, cranes, etc.

The flexibility of the new additions to EAO’s Series 09 family is enhanced by optional CAN bus connectivity, interchangeable ISO7000 or customer-specific symbols, and coloured symbol inserts.

According to EAO Marketing Manager Robert Davies, HMIs in heavy-duty and special vehicles are demanding enhanced levels of useability, safety, functionality and reliability, which EAO technologists have reflected in the latest additions to the Series 09 family: “The new 8-pushbutton and IP69K Series 09 keypads feature impressive application-specific configuration options for the illumination and the communication interfaces, as well as the flexibility needed to make a customised selection and arrangement of the symbols”, Davies said.
