New initiative designed to ‘revolutionise’ global digital skills training

26 March 2024

Global tech consultancy FDM Group has unveiled five specialist practices to drive innovation and meet the dynamic demands of businesses and employees alike.

The practices have been set up to navigate the rapid pace of tech innovation and the changing expectations of both employees and employers. FDM has always focused on finding exceptional people from diverse backgrounds and developing their skills, but acknowledges that now more than ever, businesses need expertise that can not only fill their skills gaps but access expertise that can help guide and consult them on their biggest challenges.

The five practices include Software Engineering, IT Operations, Data and Analytics, Change and Transformation, and Risk, Regulation and Compliance. Each practice is made up of teams of subject matter experts, skills coaches and consultants that operate within a culture of learning and career development within FDM’s Skills Lab, to ensure clients receive the best expertise and service possible.

The new approach will offer even more varied and dynamic career paths, with accelerated progression, through FDM’s specialist skills development programmes.

FDM is also transforming its learning and development strategies to adopt a Sprint-based project learning methodology where all consultants will have greater access to more flexible learning, increasing speed-to-site and the ability to customise knowledge and skills to client-specific requirements.

There is now the opportunity for greater collaboration with clients on their outcome-based pod project learning environments, improving the product that clients receive.

In a work-from-anywhere-world, FDM will utilise its 33 years of global industry experience to deliver enhanced problem-solving solutions and better support customers across associate, consultant, senior consultant and principal consultant talent.

Rod Flavell, Chief Executive Officer of FDM Group, said: “The rise of remote and hybrid working models and global innovation in areas like AI have necessitated a fresh approach to digital skills development both for businesses and job seekers.

“Our rebranded practice model offers specialised mentoring, coaching, and industry-focused development, to launch dynamic tech careers and meet the evolving needs of our global partners.”

FDM will continue to support core groups including apprentices, graduates, returners, blue lights services & ex-forces personnel, offering more opportunities to develop their skills through the practices, and helping to foster skilled multi-generational workforces across the world.

FDM Group has helped launch over 25,000 tech careers to date and is a trusted partner to over 200 companies worldwide, helping to identify and deliver the expertise that businesses need. The company currently has 18 centres across Europe, North America, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

Sheila Flavell CBE, Chief Operating Officer of FDM Group, commented: “Employee expectations are evolving and it’s important to ensure multigenerational workforces remain engaged in the technology sector and equipped with the latest digital skills.

“Whether it’s Gen Z breaking into the workforce, returners coming back from a career break, or ex-forces transitioning to the tech sphere, FDM is committed to supporting tech careers to bridge the global skills gap.

“We’re also on a mission to support social mobility, continually rising in the Social Mobility Index and providing underrepresented groups with the digital skills they need to thrive in the tech sector.”
