Advantech showcases solution-ready packages at Embedded World 2024

04 April 2024

The Advantech Industrial IoT team will showcase, through live demos at Embedded World 2024, how its collaboration with Microsoft uses Microsoft Azure cloud services to provide solution-ready packages that maximise user experience.

As a Microsoft Global Cloud Solution Provider, Windows Embedded/IoT distributor and Gold Cloud Platform Partner, Advantech IIoT is able to use its industry expertise to support Azure users and resellers.

Advantech IIoT and Microsoft work closely together to help organisations accelerate their digital transformation journey by unifying business and technology architectures.

They have developed a suite of complete solutions and services for the IoT era, focused on transforming business processes and operations that span the areas of hybrid cloud transformation, data, AI, IoT, business applications and workplace modernisation.

Azure cloud service providers and system integrators visiting the Advantech IIoT pod in the Microsoft booth will see how these IoT solutions and Azure cloud services can transform businesses by connecting intelligent devices, activating sorted data in the cloud and employing fast, customised analytic tools with Azure.

In particular, Advantech will exhibit various Edge intelligent devices that enable IoT data to be collected in the field and streamed to the cloud. Advantech’s TPC-100W series of ARM-based touch PCs for factory management applications will be on show. These devices facilitate manual input from the shop floor to send event triggers to the cloud.

Advantech will also be sharing with Embedded World visitors its MIC-7700 Edge server with an embedded MSFT IoT hub. Designed around the expansion slot module concept, the MIC-7700 allows different applications to integrate with the server to create a complete industrial computer.

On the software side, Advantech IIoT will show how it uses Azure services with field data acquisition and edge-to-cloud processing to provide data for informed decision-making, bringing maximum flexibility, resilience and optimised operations to the semiconductor, metal fabrication and food & beverage sectors.

In addition, Advantech specialists in the Microsoft booth will outline how iFactory can build Azure cloud-native applications, focusing on the alarm mechanism and 2D/3D visualisation.

They will also focus on Azure Kubernetes Service (orchestration software for deploying, managing and scaling containers) and Azure IoT Operations for building interoperable IoT solutions that can transform physical operations at scale which includes the Azure IoT MQ distributed messaging features.

“Our customers care about field data integrity and security," said Henry Chen, Business Development Manager, WISE-IoT at Advantech IIoT.

“Our strong relationship with Microsoft enables us to guarantee the viability and reliability of data collection with encrypted streaming to Microsoft Azure. Together, we can offer IoT solutions and Azure cloud services that can literally transform businesses.”

One of the focal points for Microsoft at Embedded World this year is a new adaptive cloud strategy, which is designed to help businesses integrate cloud technology seamlessly into their physical operations and stay ahead of the curve in an ever-changing digital landscape.

Microsoft’s adaptive cloud approach unifies teams, sites and systems into a cohesive operational, application and data model, enabling organisations to leverage cloud-native technology and AI across hybrid, multi-cloud, edge, distributed computing and IoT environments.

Adam Bogobowicz, Director of Product Marketing for Industrial Transformation at Microsoft, added: “Advantech IIoT’s collaboration with Microsoft is a testament to our shared commitment to accelerating digital transformation across industries.

“Our presence at Embedded World 2024 will showcase how our IIoT solutions, running on Microsoft Azure, can transform businesses by connecting intelligent devices, activating data in the cloud, and employing fast, customised analytic tools.

“Together with Advantech, we are helping to shape the future of IIoT and adaptive cloud computing.”
