Meet the perfect partner for your heat pump

The Passiv Smart Thermostat

Save 30% on your heating bill

The Passiv Smart Thermostat is the first smart thermostat designed specifically for controlling heat pumps and is the result of over 10 years of R&D in low-carbon heating. In 2022, the Energy Saving Trust carried out an independent study into the Passiv controls and verified that they can increase the efficiency of a heat pump by 17% when compared to a standard manufacturer thermostat. In addition, the Passiv Smart Thermostat can optimise to smart ‘time-of-use’ electricity tariffs and rooftop solar panels. Taken together, this can reduce a homeowner’s heating bill by a massive 30%!

Make home comfort effortless

The Passiv Smart Thermostat takes the science out of heat pump control. From the moment the Passiv Smart Thermostat is installed, it begins to learn how a home heats up and cools down. It calculates how a heating system performs and how a home reacts to the outside temperature and weather. It uses this information, alongside a local weather forecast for the next 24 hours, to start heating a home and hot water at exactly the right time. This smart preheating uses the same technology that’s used to increase a heat pump’s efficiency by 17% and takes the guesswork out of heat pump control, delivering perfect comfort for a homeowner.

Control your heating and
hot water from anywhere

The Passiv Smart Thermostat is made up of the Passiv app, Thermostat, Programmer, and Hub, which together provide simple, smart control of heating and hot water using either the in-home devices or remotely on a smartphone. Unlike most smart thermostats, the Passiv Smart Thermostat offers full in-home control for those without a smartphone or internet connection. The Programmer offers a rich display for managing your heating schedules, boosting your hot water and even setting Away mode!

Earn up to £100 a year with Greener Grid Payments

The Passiv Smart Thermostat enables heat pump owners to participate in Greener Grid Payments, a revolutionary new service launched by Passiv in October 2023. Greener Grid Payments is the UK’s first automated Demand Side Response (DSR) service for heat pump owners, allowing them to get paid for using their heat pump. The Passiv Smart Thermostat automatically responds to signals based on the needs of the wider electricity network, reducing demand whilst using smart preheating to make sure the home doesn’t noticeably cool down.

Take the guesswork out of heat pump installation

The Passiv Smart Thermostat makes heat pump installation simple by removing the need for an installer to set a weather compensation curve. No guesswork and no customer callbacks. The Passiv Smart Thermostat learns how a home heats up and cools down and uses local weather forecasts to calculate the optimal way to meet a homeowner’s comfort requirements. It continuously optimises a heat pump’s flow temperature to maximise its CoP, effectively setting a dynamic weather compensation curve! In addition, the Passiv Smart Thermostat features a built-in, push-fit wiring centre. It can be installed with wired or wireless thermostats and can be commissioned from the Programmer without a smartphone or internet connection in under 2 minutes!
