Decarbonisation efforts plus less energy waste make business sense

19 June 2025

Cleaning up the UK’s air isn’t just about protecting the environment – it’s also about safeguarding our health and wellbeing. So says Layton Hill, VP Strategy UK&I at Schneider Electric.

"With air pollution the largest environmental risk to public health, industry must take urgent and decisive action. With many industrial processes causing direct pollution or still relying on energy from fossil fuels, businesses can make a significant difference by reducing energy waste and taking steps to decarbonise operations.

“Doing so makes business sense. Smart, AI-powered technologies that use clean energy and monitor consumption help to optimise energy usage. This not only reduces emissions, but also enables businesses to cut operational costs, build resilience, and progress towards net-zero goals. By embracing these innovations, we can all breathe easier, knowing we’re moving towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.”
