ifm introduces space-saving IO-Link I/O module for control cabinets

02 July 2025

ifm has launched its innovative AL5121 IO-Link input/output module, a compact and efficient solution that simplifies the integration of sensors and actuators into control systems.

With its space-saving design and advanced capabilities, the AL5121 is a reliable choice for both control cabinet and field applications requiring minimal IP protection.

The AL5121 stands out with its ultra-slim 43mm width, offering space efficiency for installations within control cabinets. Despite its compact size, the module supports the integration of up to 16 digital devices, including sensors and actuators, making it a versatile option for comprehensive system connections. The ability to configure each port as an input or output enhances flexibility, adapting the device to a wide range of operational scenarios.

Designed with installation simplicity in mind, the AL5121 includes a spring clamp system for rapid and secure wiring. Additionally, its integrated DIN rail mount ensures seamless setup, allowing operators to save time and resources during deployment.

One of the AL5121’s standout features is its ability to provide power to external actuators via an IO-Link A-port master, with a total current capacity of up to one ampere. This ensures efficient and reliable power supply, catering to the demands of modern automation systems.

The module is particularly suited for applications within protected machine housings, cleanroom environments, and other low IP protection class requirements, offering robust performance in controlled settings. Furthermore, by leveraging IO-Link communication technology, users can centrally access and configure sensor data at the IT level, enabling streamlined digitalisation and monitoring processes.
