CP Automation partners with Eluminate to support Denmark’s green transition

To improve power quality in Denmark’s industrial facilities and support the country’s move to electrification, power quality experts CP Automation and SineTamer have partnered with Eluminate.
The Danish company specialises in helping customers integrate renewable energy in the grid, supplying and installing monitoring and mitigation devices. Eluminate will now supply SineTamer surge protection devices, meaning it can help to solve a wider range of power quality-related issues.
Eluminate now provides SineTamer’s full range of transient frequency attenuation devices (TFAD), which can protect variable frequency AC/DC drives and other electronic equipment. Unlike traditional surge protection devices, SineTamer uses special frequency attenuation circuitry rather than voltage actuation. Therefore, the device can actively track and follow the sinewave form – protecting all 360 degrees, not just the extremes.
SineTamer can also help to address issues high up on the frequency spectrum, including supra-harmonics. These are voltage and current waveform distortions in the frequency range of 2-150kHZ, which can cause a range of issues, including equipment overheating and early component aging.
“Denmark is embracing the green transition, but the move towards electrification isn’t without issues,” explains Anders Dahl Johnsen, CCO and lead consultant at Eluminate. “For example, we’ve removed many of our overhead lines and replaced them with cables, which has caused grid instability – and more customers have been coming to us with issues like harmonic noise and transients.
“We partnered with CP Automation and SineTamer for two key reasons,” added Johnsen. “First, SineTamer is like nothing else we’ve seen before, and it can work at high frequencies that we couldn’t previously reach. Then there’s CP Automation’s knowledge of the power quality market, which will be crucial as we consult on a wider range of issues, like supra-harmonics.”
